Tell 'em you've got a wheelchair

Quality

This was a good place to stay, especially given the price (it was one of the most inexpensive places I found on the beachfront). The room was clean and in good condition (although this is NOT one of those places where the maid will come back and catch you if you leave past their normal cleaning time, so we went a couple of days without maid service), the kitchenette was handy, the computers and wi-fi worked. Vending machines are pretty scarce (by the pool and I think we may have stumbled across one on one other floor - I know we did finally, on our last day, find an ice machine) and the corridors are outside, not fun on a blechy day. We didn't use the pools or the restaurants (except for getting takeout muffins once - the bar has a refrigerated case that you can buy muffins and juice from in the morning. The muffins were good, a bit pricey). The gift shop is kind of overpriced and only open 9-5 or somesuch. There is nothing right near the resort except other resorts, although Barefoot Landing is about a half-mile away. Still, the room was decent, the view was great and the price was right.

Accessibility

If I hadn't talked to the lady at the front desk on our last day, I'd've had to give this a 1. The thing is that we don't normally book a wheelchair-accessible room because my daughter doesn't use the toilet and we've found that having that big ol' accessible bathroom usually just eats into the space we can use to maneuver her wheelchair in the rest of the room. I booked through their website and I had NO idea that the standard one-bedroom suite had stairs between the bedrooms/bathroom and the living room/kitchen! Because we can just barely still carry our daughter short distances, we made the best of it, but a word to the wise - if you book a one-bedroom suite, call them and tell them you need wheelchair accessibility. The lady told me that the accessible one-bedroom suites are on the third floor (we were on the seventh). She also told me that the two- and three-bedroom suites don't have this issue.

As for the accessibility of the rest of the hotel - although you can get a wheelchair to the pools, none of the pools had lifts that I could see. A point in its favor, though, is that the hotel has its own wheelchair ramp to the beach. In the off-season, you can get a beach wheelchair from North Myrtle Beach Parks & Rec and keep it for up to a week, so we really enjoyed the easy access to the beach. (In the on-season, you get the beach wheelchairs from the lifeguards, and I understand you can only keep them for an hour or so.) I saw inside the ice cream shop (which wasn't open yet for the season - this was the first week of April) and the bar and grill and they looked like they'd be OK to get around. I think the gift shop would be kind of a tight squeeze. I'm having trouble remembering about the computers (they were on a shelf along a wall, but I can't remember the height of the shelf or if there was anything underneath). There were only a handful of accessible parking spaces in the garage, which doesn't have the world's largest elevator (it was OK for us, but might be a problem for a power chair).
